    • This was the largest fire in Colorado history. This fire exhibited some of the most extreme fire behavior in Colorado history, growing from 100 acres June 8, then another 25,000 acres June 9, and then in an astonishing 19 mile run on June 10, it gobbled up another 50,000 acres!  Another blow-up on June 17 burnt another 8000 acres. Fire crews finally gained the upper-hand with some help from the weather, and the fire was controlled at 137,000 acres.
    • Bad as this seems, this fire wasn't as bad as another fire experienced by Arizona in 2002.  There two fires merged to form the largest fire in Arizona history. The combined fire torched nearly 469,000 acres, destroyed 467 homes, and caused the evacuation of about 30,000 people.
